The first release on the Tastebuds Record label was  Janice-Marie’s “Hiatus of the Heart” CD.  This CD contained 8 songs and was Janice-Marie’s first release since the One Taste of Honey LP in 1984. 
        With the “Hiatus of the Heart” CD, Janice-Marie had just begun to explore her Native American Heritage.  A fan favorite,“ Let Love Rain Down” is a tribute to her Stockbridge-Munsee ancestry and tribal roots in Wisconsin.  The “Hiatus of the Heart” CD themes were filtered through a tropical blend of  Island, Reggae, Pop, Native Pop, and R&B strains. Billboard has proclaimed of Hiatus of the Heart: “… the wait has been worth it. This set of flavored R&B/pop heralds’ mix of dance, mid-tempo tunes and ballads that wrap themes of life and love around African and Caribbean rhythms, as well as rock, reggae and jazz.” It is filled with heartfelt songs about life, love, and dance.  An updated version of the “Hiatus of the Heart” CD was released containing 4 additional songs totaling 12 songs. This second release, on the Tastebuds Records label, was distributed by Lightyear Entertainment, and was released on the Tastebuds Records label in 2000.
